Alford Lake was integral in helping me to discover who I am- particularly in the moments when that person felt the hardest to find. As a camper and Jr. CT, I formed friendships that last today. As a Jr. CT, I learned what it meant to think, support, and believe in others. As a counselor, I learned patience and understanding and a different kind of love than I had never understood before. ALC made me a leader, a better friend, and ultimately led me to realize my passion for outdoor education and the power it can have for kids. I have loved being a counselor as it has allowed me to help guide campers, Jr. CTs, and my fellow counselors to become fuller within themselves. The people who enter ALC in June are very different than the ones who leave in August, and I am honored and humbled to be able to contribute to helping people to find who they truly want to be.
